Hi! We are The Keats. Thanks for checking out our myspace. We love writing songs and we love sharing them with all of you! We grew up in Newfoundland and we used to sit around and play instruments and try to write songs since there was not much else to do. When we were about 13, there were about ten new channels added to our extremely limited cable TV, one of those being CMT, and we were shocked and amazed to discover that what we were doing all along must have been country music. Suddenly life seemed to make more sense. It was around the same time that companies like Colombia house would deliver CD’s to your house. Pretty groovy since at that time the only thing that we could ever order was clothes from a sears catalogue.
Skip ahead a few years, we made it out of the trailer park, both got University degrees in music, and now playing music full time. What a dream come true already! Hearing our songs on the radio makes us squeal like school girls and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon (or ever, really.)
One of our favorite things to do is meet people at our shows. We love connecting with fans and we have been told that we can be very inspiring. That’s really awesome! I hope we can inspire young women that being self conscious is just a big stupid waste of time and you might as well have fun being your awesome and beautiful self.
So, that’s who we are. If you still need to know more, message us some questions and we’ll answer them! Or, continue reading the bio that I wrote in third person for media and publicity purposes. Did you ever write about yourself in third person? It kind of makes you feel like a dork but it’s a good life lesson in confidence building. Just give it a try and you’ll see what I mean.
THE KEATS are a straight up country duo, and their upfront and honest songs that are characterized by an undeniable sibling harmony are becoming a force to be reckoned with in country music. Their musicality comes from authentic roots, as they grew up singing Celtic/folk music in their home province of Newfoundland. Being classically trained musicians, playing music is like breathing for this twin sister performing power house, and they often accompany themselves ..board, guitar and mandolin.
The last couple of years have proved to be very worthwhile for THE KEATS, and they have had wonderful opportunities to share the stage with their colleagues on the Canadian Country Scene and most recently they had the distinct honor to travel to Afghanistan to entertain the Canadian Troops. They have showcased at the East Coast Music Awards and Canadian Music Week and they continue to tour throughout Canada on a regular basis.
“Somewhere New” and “Nothing left to Give” from their debut release both garnered attention on maritime country radio stations such as FX 101.9 in Halifax, NS and has paved the way out of the ‘unknown artist” category for THE KEATS. Their new single "Bring on the Next Town" just hit radio airwaves this Dec 2008 and is catching on like wild fire. With a video, more tour dates, and a full length, full on countrified album on the horizon, get ready to add some KEATS to your COUNTRY.
Thank you for taking a listen to my music. Glad you liked what you heard!
